18th Century Conservatory Turned Into A Modern Home

This 18th century two story house in Dublin, Ireland, was in disrepair and needed a complete renovation. Kingston Lafferty Design turned this dump into a dream. Extensive construction work was required to support both the existing and proposed structures and to preserve the neighboring properties. The main goal of the interior design was to maximize the space available and to channel as much natural light as possible into the existing property. The entire basement has been reduced to improve floor-to-ceiling height and the rear garden has been extensively excavated to allow for a large extension of the conservatory to be built. A tiered garden was designed to improve the quality of the natural light in the basement. The linear shapes and raw materials create a contemporary space that blends beautifully with the historical features of the original property and traditional style conservatory.
