Pirate Palace In Mallorca

This building in San Gaieta in the historic center of Palma de Mallorca is a 16th century palace built by a pirate from Genoa. The Italian architect and interior designer Teresa Sapey transformed the property into a very individual home.

The building features a variety of historic royal architectural features, including striking windows and 5 meter high ceilings. She expanded the space while maintaining the traditional elements of the building. The front of the building has a small balcony with wrought iron railing and an airy sun protection curtain for privacy. Inside the balcony is furnished with a coffee table and chairs.

Throughout the house, Sapey contained decorative items that she and her team had designed and made. The team also created the murals in the house as accent walls are traditional for houses in Mallorca. Lively versions of the colors that can be found on the island and in the Mediterranean region play a prominent role in the apartment: acid yellow, reminiscent of lemons, the warm Mediterranean sun; the blue of the sea and the sky and the green of nature.

The modern elements designed by the architect adjoin the vintage and original decor elements that have been highlighted and stylized for the interiors. This is a cool apartment that is completely tailored to the needs of the owner while preserving the originally rich history.
