Modern White Farmhouse

Modern White Farmhouse

What should a modern farmhouse look like? Imagine a rustic ambience with lots of wood paneling decorated with rural elements? This modern farmhouse isn’t of that kind, it’s airy and quiet with just a hint of a farmhouse here and there.

Cottonwood Interiors’ family-friendly New South Wales farmhouse is a bit classically American and a bit Scandinavian, which is unexpected for Australia. This low-key, relaxed and elegant home is full of neutral and refreshing colors and looks extremely cozy.

The kitchen cabinets are modern and white with a marble top as a contrast to a black kitchen island. The kitchen’s marble-like backsplash is also white, and white reflects the light very well, making the kitchen look very airy and spacious. Industrial pendant lights and stools on the kitchen island give the kitchen a spice. The rustic dining table and stool seats are made of the same light-colored wood that resembles the floors, and together they look very harmonious.

The living room is modern American with cozy rustic accents. White walls and ceilings with light wood floors make a perfect and stylish backdrop for modern white furniture, woven chairs, and some vintage finds. Big windows bring in lots of light and I really enjoy watching areas of whitewash like this.

The bedroom looks so traditionally American, but in Scandinavian colors that I would never believe this house is in Australia. Here, too, neutrals mixed with white make the room calm and airy.

The bathroom has white cabinets and marble floors and surfaces like the kitchen, and the shade is the same. Black handles and frames set accents here.

There is a laundry room which houses the same white cabinets as the bathroom and all the necessary appliances.

The kid’s playroom is done in the same calm colors, but some pastel colors have been added: blush, gray and beige as it’s a girl’s room.

The home office corner looks very light. There is a sawhorse desk that hints at the peasant style but is whitewashed as it is a Scandinavian interior.

Outside you will find a terrace with woven furniture, which is also done in white. Many large windows connect the outside and inside. The designers feel like they unite every room in this home because of the colors, style and materials used and this is a real song of style!
