This house, a half-sunk diamond, is experienced very differently by each side. The house blends in seamlessly with the landscape and blends in and out immediately. Solar panels are discreetly hidden in the dunes next to the house, and passive construction techniques maximize energy efficiency and improve insulation. Each space in the interior has been carefully curated to reflect the unique function of that space. The interior interacts closely with the surrounding landscape, as the geometric facade frames different visual perspectives of the dunes. A central wood fireplace efficiently heats the entire house and minimizes the need for additional underfloor heating in the concrete floors. The top floor of the house offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding dunes and the North Sea. Illuminated at dusk, the house brings light and energy to the sleepy dunes.
