This day bed by Korean designer Hyung Suk Cho combines elements of traditional Korean furniture with the needs of modern homes.
Blank is designed to be halfway between a sofa and a bed. It has a wide flat seat covered by a long pillow and another pair of removable pillows that form the backrest. The seat rests on a piece of wood, while the base has three horizontal wooden slats that support the sofa.
The sofa is supported by a wooden ash frame, which is based on classic “rustic” Korean shapes. The designer also referred to principles of negative space found in Korean paintings when designing the furniture.
Blank has two aspects, it is modern but also classic, and it will be able to convey a variety of feelings depending on the room in which it is placed. Its simple colors allow it to blend in with many home decor styles.
