The client’s requirements for a second home in Quebec’s eastern townships were modest. An easy-care residence with rooms that are largely open to the surrounding nature. A large volume, which consists of three programmatic sub-rooms – parents / living, loggia and children – requires that the residents go outside despite the harsh winter climate in order to gain access to adjacent rooms. The loggia allows the two entrances to be covered, an outdoor dining area protected from insects and access to the eastern outer corridor, which consists of a colonnade reminiscent of the trees in the forest. The interior decor is contemporary with natural accents, and Loggia is a modern take on a traditional chalet with lots of stacked wood.
