The London designer Ilse Crawford has expanded its Billy lighting series to include a floor lamp that rests on a pair of brass feet. The design is part of Crawford’s ongoing updates to the brand’s Billy lighting range, which includes new woods and metals.
The Billy BL lamp is carried by a slender rosewood stem and has a tapered matt black lampshade with a brass interior. The material is reproduced in the V-shaped holder of the light, which fans out at the base of the lamp. The range of materials enhances the Billy concept for upscale interiors while preserving the essential humor of the line.
Crawford gives the functional design of the floor lamp sophistication, humility and warmth. In the variant, a rosewood handle on satin brass feet replaces the undyed oak and the colored lacquer of the original. The lampshade has a duotone finish, a matt black outside and an inside made of satined brass, which create an ambience. Like its table version, Billy BL highlights both industrial and anthropomorphic features, making the lamp suitable for many types of home decor.
