Moscow-based architecture firm SHKAF Architects designed the interior of a 46 square meter apartment for a young man who wanted a neutral interior with African influences. The project consisted of creating a living room with a kitchen, study and bedroom, all of which reflected the client’s travels across Africa. The laid wooden floors refer to the color of the sand, which is juxtaposed with elements of black and white and various textures. All of the customer’s accessories were used throughout to add a layer of ornament to the otherwise reduced space. The white panels on the wall were inspired by dry, cracked flooring and add texture to the flat surface. The apartment was rather peaceful and yet with contrasting and eye-catching details – just like Africa itself!
