The Apparatus design studio has presented two new lighting series: “Cylinder”, “Link Porcelain” and “Portal”. The Cylinder series is a system of lights that enhance the experience of functional lighting. Directional light emanates from recessed points within the simple metal shapes. Their streamlined structure and stout size allow these pieces to stand alone or group together and serve as primary or secondary sources of light. The link porcelain pendant examines both the strength and vulnerability of the artist’s porcelain chain. Broken links hang oversized brass screens, the fragility of which is anchored and protected by the opposing metal. Portal tables are made of thick, sandblasted ash and conjure up the proportions of ancient structures and the roughly hewn texture of primitive furniture.
