Original forms of unusual materials always attract attention, and this cabinet is one of those things. Katrina Ennamorato’s Piega cabinet simulates paper folds in solid walnut wood (“Piega” means “fold” in Italian) and suggests “a box that has been shredded and remained in a tense shape”. The piece is made with a combination of handwork and CNC machining and darkened with a vinegar-steel wool solution. Solid wood instead of metal drawer guides to extend the life of the piece. The material and the design make the cupboard look more futuristic and surreal, it becomes a cool accent piece in any modern interior.
