Indian House Extensive Use Concrete Reclaimed Wood

This beautiful spot in the coastal village of La Dune is the eco-friendly weekend getaway that Niels and his wife Malavika Shivakumar designed for themselves and their children, a break from the noise of city life in Pondicherry, South India. The house is modern and chic: lots of concrete is used both indoors and outdoors; Indoors, the concrete is only polished for a chic industrial feel. Inside, you can see an extensive use of reclaimed wood of various types that gives the interiors a character that keeps them environmentally friendly. I love the contrasts between dark wood and concrete, as well as colorful textiles from the local artisans that add color.
