Designers Rachel Griffin and Emilie Pallard wanted to reinterpret exterior building materials for interior use with ‘Building’, a collection of objects that were created using bricks. Each object in the collection uses the weight of the bricks as an anchor, while the wooden components are threaded through the existing perforations to tie the structure together. The result is an abstract but functional area that includes a bench, table, shoe rack and lamp. The pieces are designed in one color, with the natural colors of the wood complementing the colors of the brick. It is a new and very original approach to the production of industrial furniture and decorative objects, where external elements are integrated into the internal ones.
