Living Edge Tables Welcoming Natural Imperfections

Living Edge Tables Welcoming Natural Imperfections

Designer Greg Klassen believes the imperfections can really inspire and includes them in his tables, almost turning them into art. Greg takes two living edge panels with the serpentine natural curves facing towards the center of the finished piece. The living edges form a support for a hand-cut, tinted blue pane of glass that spans the two panels and forms a continuous surface. Cavities are also treated in the same way and have the appearance of small ponds or lakes within the wood panel. Small checks and cracks remain natural and contribute to the natural patina of the surface. Sometimes the glass is fitted into a rebate to create a sunken gap instead of a continuous flat surface.
