Mountain Cabin Cozy Weekends

What could be nicer than going on holiday in a mountain or forest hut? I can’t think of a better vacation. If you love relaxation like this too, you’ll be delighted to see this cabin.

Big Pine is a modern cabin in Methow Valley, Washington designed by Prentiss + Balance + Wickline Architects for a busy couple and their family. The retreat is in a forest of ponderosa trees and a meadow with uninterrupted views of the valley and the North Cascades Mountains. The entire house was designed to preserve the surrounding trees and to get the maximum view.

The residence was designed with a modern aesthetic while maintaining the cabin feel: although the decor is rather laconic, a lot of wood and natural stone are used. The wood is colorful and recovered. There are different shades to make the interior more noticeable. Two stone fireplaces perfectly blend rustic with modern and at the same time provide a source of heat. The heated concrete floors keep the interior cozy. Glass and stone sections connect three different volumes and are housed under one roof.

There are two terraces, one on each side, that extend from the open plan living area and offer different views and uses. They are decorated in the same style and material as the interiors. An outdoor grill and fireplace off the kitchen provide a place to eat in the warmer months.
