Pottery usually has a reputation for being fragile, heavy, and just a little more serious. The designer Marta Bordes shakes that reputation with Elastic Lights, a collection of ceramic lamps that are meant to be touched, moved and played with. Heavier geometric ceramic pieces are held together by colorful and fun elastic cords. The easy nature lamp invites the user to interact with the parts and move them so that everyone can enjoy the tactile nature of their design. It is more reminiscent of a fun toy or accessory than a lamp. The unique accessibility of Elastic Lights aims to eliminate the untouchability of the ceramic – to bring more movement into the ceramic and to give it a fresh, playful touch.
