Stone Foam Stool Looking Hard And Being Soft

Stone Foam Stool Looking Hard And Being Soft

Perception, interaction and contradictions are brought together in the Stone Foam Stool by designer Matthijs Kok. This chair looks tough, but is unexpectedly soft because adding clay grains and pigments to liquid soft foam gives the expanded foam a rough stone texture. During the expansion, the stone foam takes the shape of the shape. The clay granulate is soaked by the casting and then the stone structure appears. Finally, the cast is fine-tuned with several shades of gray for a more natural result and the chrome legs are attached to the seat. So don’t let the chair fool you – it’s as soft as a baby’s back!
