This kitchen was renovated by Mitchell Holladay Architects, and a first priority was sunlight: to maximize exposure, Mitchell Holladay Architects tore down as many walls as possible without compromising the structural integrity of the house. The residents have a particularly strong sense of color and love to cook with their son. So these blue tiles from Heath Ceramics were an ideal choice. The tiles, together with colorful dishes and custom-made walnut furniture, create a lively interior. LEM piston stool by Shin and Tomoko Azumi from Design Within Reach flank a custom-made kitchen island made of walnut; Sculptural hand-blown glass pendants from John Pomp Studios hang above them.
